The Liberty Lineup Grows: An Update on Council Tool’s 2026 Collection
140 years of Council Tool. 250 years of America. A mark worth carrying forward.
Earlier this year, we introduced our Liberty Axe Collection to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. As 2026 continues, we’re sharing an updated lineup that brings that recognition to more Council Tool models—from Wood-Craft Pack Axes and Sport Utility axes to mauls and flathead fire axes.
For Council Tool, this milestone carries added meaning. We’re also celebrating 140 years of American toolmaking, continuing the work that began in North Carolina in 1886.
What Makes It a Liberty Axe?
The identifying detail is a symbolic American flag stamped into the steel.
On select models forged during the 2026 calendar year, this commemorative flag replaces the usual year-of-forging stamp. Instead of “26,” these tools carry a mark recognizing America’s 250th anniversary.
It’s a meaningful detail on a working tool—something to appreciate each time you pick it up, whether it’s headed to the woodpile, the campsite, or the job.
