A high quality axe and a joy to clear trails with and do the work needed at a base camp. I pack with mules and horses, set up base camps for a week to a month while clearing trails in Pisgah National Forest and The Smoky Mountains National Park. I a Back Country Horsemen and the trails in the back country and the wilderness areas is where I volunteer. When I say an ax is of quality, you can believe it. Take care and injoy the backcountry and wilderness the USA has to offer.

Awesome axe if you aren’t bothered by lack of QC and customer service. Pack axe was great with exception of a poor hang that needed fixing out of the box. And the bit was about as crooked as a pickle. Grain was right on the edge between good and okay. Bought a 24” “premium” replacement handle and was sent a handle that makes Home Depot’s crap handles look awesome. Reached out to Council, no reply.

This is a high quality, USA-made axe and sheath/mask.
The axe head has remained sharp after limbing a few trees (pine and oak). The edge grind bites deeply and has resisted deformation or chipping. It’s also nice to see the tempering lines on the head.
The handle and wedge look well made. No signs of any weakness in the grain lines or looseness so far. The throat and end of the grip are very comfortable after repeated swings. The one improvement is the shoulder shape–it is too flat and pointed at the sides to be comfortable for close carving, which requires choking up with the handle.
The mask is very sturdy. Thick leather and very snug fit.
